🚇 The Metro System (SITVA)
Medellín is the only city in Colombia with a metro system. It is a world-renowned model of integration:
• Lines A & B: The main heavy rail lines. Line A runs North-to-South along the river corridor.
• Metrocable (🚠): Integrated cable cars connecting hillside neighborhoods. Line L takes you to the stunning Arví Park (requires a special fare).
• Tram (🚃): A modern light rail system through the historic center (Line T).
🎫 Tickets & Payments
• Cívica Card: This is the essential rechargeable smart card. You can purchase and top it up at main stations.
• Cultura Metro: You will notice the stations are spotless. In Medellín, the Metro is a symbol of pride. Please respect the "no eating or drinking" rule on board! 🚫🍔
🎨 Tribute to Master Fernando Botero
Medellín is the birthplace of Colombia's greatest artist. Your trip isn't complete without visiting:
• Botero Plaza: Exit at Parque Berrío station. You will find 23 monumental bronze sculptures donated by the Master to his hometown.
• Tip: It’s a must-stop to admire the "voluminous" style that made Botero a global icon. 🎨✨
