Introductions Stadtmuseum Landsberg am Lech
Your digital companion in the Landsberg am Lech City Museum.
This is the official app for the Landsberg am Lech City Museum. We warmly invite you to discover the interactive themed tours of the city museum! This will take you on an exciting journey through time in the museum building, which - built in the Baroque period - is worth a visit as one of the most important historical buildings in the old town. But you can also visit Landsberg's historical sites, for example with our bike tour “Landsberg and National Socialism”.
There are various paths leading to the history of Landsberg, which is why the permanent exhibition is entitled “Paths to Landsberg”. No matter whether you have a lot or little time, explore everything or just select the most important stages of the city's history, which stretches from the early beginnings on the Schlossberg to the present: you will find that Landsberg made history. This is particularly true of the 20th century, to which we have dedicated an entire floor. Maybe you know that Adolf Hitler was in so-called “fortress detention” in Landsberg. Landsberg was also the scene of the Holocaust with the largest subcamp complex of the Dachau concentration camp. In the post-war period, Nazi war criminals served their sentences in the same prison where Hitler had served. At the same time, Jewish survivors were waiting in the Saarburg barracks to leave the country.
Our exhibition invites you to discover how closely local narratives are linked to European history.
