Encyclopedia of Reprehensible and Bad Morals
Reprehensible morals are those that Islam forbids people to possess. They are the opposite of praiseworthy morals. Reprehensible morals usually stem from the love of lust in its various forms, which often leads to injustice and oppression, and from ignorance, which leads to errors in judgment or perception. Therefore, Islam forbids them in all their forms. Some scholars believe that reprehensible morals are built upon four pillars: ignorance, injustice, lust, and anger. From these, all bad morals arise. Ibn al-Qayyim, may God have mercy on him, explains this, saying: “The origin of all base morals, and their foundation, rests on four pillars: ignorance, injustice, lust, and anger.” Thus, reprehensible morals give rise to one another, just as praiseworthy morals give rise to one another. This book presents a comprehensive overview of all bad morals, their definitions, causes, methods of overcoming them, and their opposites: praiseworthy morals. Each moral is indexed individually. The application works without internet and the font is large because it is in comprehensive format.
