國際象棋（英语：chess），又稱歐洲象棋或西洋棋，是一種二人對弈的戰略棋盘遊戲。國際象棋的棋盤由64個黑白相間的八乘八網格組成。這是世界上最流行的遊戲之一，世界各地數以百萬計的人在家中、俱樂部中、網路上以通信西洋棋或比賽的型式遊玩。

每位玩家一開始都各有16個棋子：一個國王、一個皇后、兩個城堡、兩個騎士、兩個主教和八個士兵。六種棋子的移動類型都不一樣。棋子是用來攻克對手的棋子，目標是將對方的國王處在不可避免的威脅之下以將死對方。除了將死，也可以透過對方自願性地投降而獲勝，通常會發生在大多數的棋子死亡或不可避免將死的時候。棋局也可以在一些情況下和局，導致沒有玩家獲勝。遊戲過程被區分作三個階段：國際象棋開局、國際象棋中局、西洋棋殘局。
