Silicon Empire is a game about building a semiconductor company from scratch. You start in 2000 with a small team and a pile of cash. Your job — design processors, get them manufactured, and somehow survive the market.

This isn't your typical tycoon where you drag buildings onto a grid. Here you actually get into the guts of CPU design: pick an architecture — x86, ARM, MIPS, or PowerPC — choose a microarchitecture, configure cache, decoder, branch prediction. Your chip's performance is calculated from real-ish parameters, not just "+5 to speed".

Your engineers aren't interchangeable drones either. They work in teams that build up synergy and expertise over time. A team that's been designing x86 chips for years will crush it on the next one — but throw them at ARM and they're basically starting over. Lose a key team lead and watch your productivity crater.

Once your chip is designed, it goes through testing, software development (drivers, BIOS), then to a fab for manufacturing. Set your price, pick distribution channels, run a marketing campaign. Or announce the product early to build hype — just make sure the final product lives up to the promises.

The market isn't static. AI competitors develop their own chips, prices shift, some architectures dominate certain segments. Your ARM chip might kill it in mobile but flop on desktop. That's the game.
